    2. 1 pound granulated sugar

    3. 3/4 pound butter

    4. 1 pound flour

    5. 8 eggs

    6. 2 pounds raisins

    7. 2 pounds currants

    8. 1/4 pound candied orange peel

    9. 1/4 pound candied lemon peel

    10. 1/2 pound citron

    11. 1 heaping tablespoon cinnamon

    12. 1/2 teaspoon of cloves

    13. 1 nutmeg

    14. 3 teaspoons soda

    15. 2 tablespoons grape juice

    1. Cream, butter, and sugar; add the well-beaten yolks of eggs, spices, then sifted flour, reserving enough to mix with fruit, then soda mixed in grape juice; then add whites, after beating very stiff, and last the fruit.

    2. Put buttered paper on tin.

    3. Bake in a moderate oven three hours.
