  1. 8 green tomatoes

  2. 1 cup fine breadcrumbs , toasted , divided

  3. 1 teaspoon salt , divided

  4. 1/8 teaspoon black pepper , divided

  5. 3 tablespoon butter , divided

  6. 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Grease a baking dish.

  3. Cut tomatoes into 1/2 inch slices.

  4. Arrange half the tomato slices in a single layer in prepared dish. Sprinkle half the breadcrumbs, half the salt and pepper and half the butter over tomato slices.

  5. Repeat for second layer. Top with cheese.

  6. Bake 40 to 45 minutes, until tender.
