  7. 4 pounds apples -- plus

  8. 2 teaspoons cinnamon

  9. 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

  10. During the afternoon or evening we peel, core and slice the apples. The

  11. slices do not need to be thin. We stuff as many slices in the crock pot

  12. as we can, put the lid on and cook them for a few hours on the "high"

  13. setting. We reduce the setting to "low" and let the apples cook

  14. overnight. The next morning, the apples have cooked down by about one/half and are a rich brown. We then stir in the spices to taste (about 2 teaspns. of ground cinnamon and 1/2 teaspn. of ground cloves and because we use sweet apples--no sugar) and let it cook on "high" for a

  15. few hours with the lid off to reduce some of the liquid."
