  1. 1 large rutabaga peeled and chopped

  2. 1/4 cup. butter or margarine , divided

  3. 1 small onion , finely chopped

  4. 1/2 cup. milk

  5. 1 1/2 cup. grated white Cheddar, divided

  6. 1/2 tsp. salt

  7. 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

  8. 1/3 cup. Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs

  1. Bring rutabaga to boil; cook 20 minutes or until tender.

  2. Drain well; transfer to large bowl, and mash.

  3. Melt 1 tbsp. butter; add onion, sauté 3 minutes or until tender.

  4. Add onion, milk and 1 cup. cheese, salt, garlic and remaining ingredients to rutabagas.

  5. Spoon into lightly greased 9 X 13-inch baking dish.

  6. Sprinkle evenly with breadcrumbs and remaining ½ cup cheese. Bake 350 F. for 30 minutes or until lightly browned
