  4. 1 piece fresh ginger -- (2" x 1" x 1" ),

  5. -- coarsely chopped 3 cloves garlic

  6. 3 tablespoons water

  7. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric

  8. 1 tablespoon salt

  9. 1/2 teaspoon cayenne

  10. 1 tablespoon fennel seeds -- optional

  1. Blend the water and spices (except the fennel seeds) into a paste. Heat some oil in a pan. When hot, put in the fennel seeds, and then the paste. Fry the paste for a few minutes. Add the potatoes and fry until encrusted with the paste.
