  2. 6 Granny Smith apples

  3. 6 popsicle sticks

  4. 1 (14 oz.) package of individually wrapped caramels

  5. 2 Tbls water

  6. 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  1. Preparation :

  2. If you are going to roll your caramel apples in toppings then get those ready by putting them into small bowls or plates.

  3. Insert popsicle sticks 3/4 of the way into the stem end of each apple.

  4. Cover a large plate or cookie sheet with wax paper.

  5. Cover cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray Place apples on the cookie sheet Add water and unwraped caramels in a saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring often, until caramel melts and is smooth.

  6. Stir in the vanilla.

  7. Take off heat Dip apples into melted caramel and coat apple evenly, use a spoon to coat them if you need to. Allow excess caramel to drip off.

  8. Scrape off bottoms of apples with a popsicle stick and roll into bowls filled with different toppings and then place on a plate or cookie sheet covered with wax paper.

  9. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until ready to serve.
