  1. 6 to 8 tart apples

  2. 2 crust

  3. 9 inch pie

  4. 3/4 to 1 c. sugar

  5. 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

  6. 1/2 tsp. salt

  7. 2 tbsp. butter

  1. Pare, core, and slice the apples. Line a deep 9 inch pie pan with pastry. Place a layer of apples over the bottom, sprinkle with a mixture of the sugar, cinnamon, and salt, dot with butter, and repeat until all are used.

  2. Add the top sheet of pastry. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, lower temperature to 375 degrees and continue baking for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
