  1. 4 lbs. spareribs

  2. 2 T butter or margarine

  3. 1/2 c finely chopped onion

  4. 1 c water

  5. 1 c ketchup

  6. 2 T vinegar

  7. 2 T lemon juice

  8. 2 T Worcestershire sauce

  9. 2 T brown sugar

  10. 1 t dry mustard

  11. 1 t salt

  12. 1/4 t pepper

  1. Have ribs cut in serving pieces. Brown them slowly in two 10-inch skillets; put them in a baking pan. Pour off the fat in the skillet and melt the butter in it; add onions, cook until brown. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer for 20 minutes. Set oven to 350 degrees. Pour sauce over ribs and bake, covered, 1½ hours.
