  1. 1 cup butter

  2. cup sugar

  3. 1 egg

  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla

  5. 2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

  6. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  7. Sprinkles and colored sugar for decorating

  1. Sift flour and salt together and set aside.

  2. In standing mixer cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

  3. Mix in egg and vanilla.

  4. Add flour mixture in three batches to butter mixture incorporating after each addition.

  5. Separate dough into two balls. Flatten into disks. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill dough 3 or 4 hours before rolling. (Don’t skip this step.)

  6. Preheat oven to 350.

  7. Remove dough from refrigerator and let come to room temperature (68 degrees).

  8. Roll out to dough ¼" and cut with cookie cutters.

  9. Sprinkle with sugar and Christmas decorations.

  10. Bake on heavy baking sheet lined with parchment for 8 to 10 minutes.
