  1. 1/2 cup sugar

  2. 1 egg

  3. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  4. 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled

  5. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  6. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  7. 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon baking powder

  8. 1/8 teaspoon salt

  9. Confectioners' sugar

  1. Crackle Cookies Recipe photo by Taste of Home In a bowl, combine the sugar, egg, oil, chocolate and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Chill dough for at least 2 hours.

  2. With sugared hands, shape dough into 1-in. balls. Roll in confectioners' sugar. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until set. Remove to a wire rack to cool. Yield: about 1-1/2 dozen.
