  6. 1 c Dates

  7. 1 c Boiling water

  8. 1 ts Vanilla

  9. 1/4 c Margarine

  10. 1 c Sugar

  11. 1 Egg, beaten

  12. 1 1/2 c Flour

  13. 1 ts Baking powder

  14. 1 ts Baking soda

  15. 1/2 ts Salt

  16. --TOPPING--

  17. 6 tb Brown sugar

  18. 3 tb Butter

  19. 4 tb Canned milk

  20. 1 c Coconut

  21. 1 pn Salt

  22. Cook dates, water and vanilla to soft mass. Cream

  23. margarine, sugar and egg. Add dry ingredients to

  24. 9 x

  25. 325F for 35 minutes.

  26. While cake is baking, put all the topping ingredients

  27. into a small pot and bring to a boil. Boil for 3

  28. minutes. When cake is baked, remove from oven, spread

  29. topping on it and place under the broiler to brown.
