2 1/2 c Flour

1 1/2 c Sugar

2 Eggs

1 oz Red food coloring

1 ts Water

2 ts Cocoa

1 ts Salt; scant

1 ts Baking soda

1 ts Vanilla

1 c Buttermilk

1 ts Vinegar

2 9-inch cake pans. Bake at

350F for about 30 minutes.

8 oz cream cheese, at room temperature

1/2 stick (1/4 cup)

2 c confectioneres' sugar, sifted if lumpy

1 tsp vanilla extract Combine the cream cheese, butter,

confectioners' sugar and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Beat well, or process until perfectly smooth and spreadable. You will have enough to fill and frost cake. --
