  1. 1 qt. milk

  2. 2 c. water

  3. 3 tbsp. shortening

  4. 1 c. oatmeal

  5. 1 1/2 c. molasses

  6. 3 pkgs. dry yeast

  7. 12-15 c. flour

  1. Scald milk, water, shortening, then cool to lukewarm. Then add oatmeal, molasses and dry yeast, mix until well blended, then add flour – mix well. Knead for 15 minutes. Raise for 2 hours. Push it down for 10 minutes. Shape into bread loaves or dinner rolls. Raise 1 hour. Bake at 325 degrees for 1/2 hour. Makes 2 loaves or 40 dinner rolls.
