  1. 2 ripe California avocados (1 pound total), quartered, pitted, and peeled

  2. 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro

  3. 1/2 cup minced white onion

  4. 1 fresh serrano chile including seeds, minced

  5. 2 teaspoons fresh lime juice, or to taste

  6. 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, or to taste

  7. 3/4 to 1 cup cold water
