  5. 3 lb TO 3-1/2 lb beef short ribs

  6. 1 ts ;salt

  7. 1/8 ts ;pepper

  8. 2 tb Shortening

  9. 2 md Onions; sliced

  10. 1/2 c Dry red wine

  11. 1/2 c Chili sauce

  12. 3 tb Brown sugar

  13. 3 tb Vinegar

  14. 1 tb Worcestershire sauce

  15. 1/2 ts Dry mustard

  16. 1/2 ts Chili powder

  17. 2 tb Flour

  18. Coat shortribs in mixture of 2 tablespoons flour with salt and pepper. Melt

  19. shortening in large skillet. Add ribs and brown on all sides. Pour off

  20. excess fat. In crockpot, combine ribs, onions, wine, chili sauce, brown

  21. sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire, mustard, and chili powder. Cover and cook

  22. 6 to 8 hours. Turn heat to High. Thicken with

  23. 2 tbs. flour that

  24. has been mixed with a small amount of water. Cook until slightly thickened

  25. or about 10 minutes. Serve over wide egg noodles.
