  6. 2 c Milk

  7. 1/2 c Butter Or Margarine

  8. 2 pk Yeast -- Active, Dry

  9. 2 ts Salt

  10. 1/2 c Sugar

  11. 7 c Flour -- Unbleached

  12. 2 ea Eggs -- Large

  13. 1 c Confectioners' Sugar

  14. 1 x -- Water

  15. 1 t Vanilla Extract

  16. 1/4 c Almonds -- Chopped

  17. Heat milk and butter until very warm (120-130 degrees

  18. 1 cup flour. Slowly

  19. beat into warm milk. Beat for 2 minutes. Add eggs

  20. 1 cup of flour. Beat for an additional

  21. 2 minutes.

  22. Add enough flour to form a soft dough. Knead until

  23. smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place dough in a

  24. greased bowl. Let rise in a warm place until doubled

  25. in bulk, about 1 hour. Punch dough down and let rise

  26. 1 hour more

  27. half. Shape pretzel as follows: Roll dough into a

  28. 30 inches long and 1 1/2 inches in

  29. diameter. Cross the ends leaving a large loop in the

  30. center. Flip loop back onto crossed ends to form a

  31. pretzel. Repeat with remaining dough. Place pretzels

  32. on greased baking sheets. Let rise 15 minutes more.

  33. 375 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes or until

  34. golden brown. Cool on wire racks. Mix confectioners'

  35. sugar, water and vanilla to form a thin icing. Spread

  36. icing on pretzels and sprinkle with chopped almonds.
