  1. 2 pounds lean ground beef (90% lean)

  2. 1 large green pepper, chopped

  3. 2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each ) diced tomatoes, undrained

  4. 2 cans (8 ounces each ) tomato sauce

  5. 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste

  6. 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  7. 1 tablespoon sugar

  8. 2 teaspoons celery salt or celery seed

  9. 2 teaspoons onion salt or onion powder

  10. 1 teaspoon paprika

  11. 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  12. 3 bay leaves

  13. 16 hamburger buns, split

  1. Photo by: Taste of Home In a Dutch oven, cook beef and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and cook over low heat for 30 minutes.

  2. Cook, uncovered, 30-40 minutes longer or until thickened. Discard bay leaves. Serve 1/2 cup of meat mixture on each bun. Yield: 16 servings.
