  1. 2 cups Sugar

  2. cup Salad oil

  3. 3 Eggs

  4. 1 teaspoon Baking soda

  5. 3 cups Flour

  6. 3 cups Pared; chopped apples

  7. 2 teaspoons Vanilla

  8. 1 cup Chopped nuts

  9. cup Butter

  10. 1 cup Firmly packed brown sugar

  11. cup Evaporated milk

  1. SQUARES TOPPING Squares: Combine sugar, oil, eggs, soda, flour, apples, vanilla and nuts.

  2. Mix well; batter is stiff. Spread evenly in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

  3. Bake for 1 hour in a preheated oven at 325 degrees. Cake can be iced while still warm. Topping: Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes longer. Spread topping on squares. Cool cake squares completely before cutting.
