  1. 250 g plain flour , sieved

  2. 1 tsp salt

  3. 2 tbsp olive oil

  4. 140 ml water

  5. 3 tbsp oil , for frying

  1. Put the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl, add the oil and then slowly add enough water to give a soft, but not sticky dough.

  2. Knead for 2-3 minutes until smooth and then form the mixture into a ball.

  3. Break off walnut sized balls and roll each ball out on a floured surface to form a circle measuring about 15cm. The dough should be enough to make 10 chapattis.

  4. Heat about 1 tablespoon of oil in a frying pan over a medium heat and cook the chapattis, one at a time, until golden brown on both sides, adding a little more oil as necessary. Wrap in foil and keep warm until ready to serve.
