  1. 3/4 c. shortening

  2. 1/4 c. butter

  3. 1 1/2 c. sugar

  4. 2 egg s, beaten

  5. 1/2 t. vanilla flavoring

  6. 1/4 t. almond flavoring

  7. 4 c. all-purpose flour

  8. 1 t. baking powder

  9. 1/2 t. salt

  10. 6 T. half and half

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix shortening, butter, sugar, and flavorings. Add eggs and mix well.

  2. Sift flour and stir in baking powder and salt in separate bowl. Add dry ingredients alternately to creamed mixture with half and half. Chill dough for 1-2 hours.

  3. Roll dough ⅛" thick on lightly floured board. Cut with 3” cookie cutters. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 6-8 minutes or until cookies are just beginning to turn light golden color. Do not over bake. Cool and decorate with icing and/or sprinkles.

  4. OPTION: To make drop sugar cookie method, decrease flour by 1 c. and drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Flatten with glass dipped in sugar. Bake as above.
