  1. RANGER COOKIES

  2. 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

  3. 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

  4. 1/2 cup sugar

  5. 1 egg

  6. 1 teaspoon vanilla

  7. 1 1/4 cups flour, unbleached

  8. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  9. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  10. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  11. 2 cups crisp rice cereal

  12. 1 1/2 cups flaked coconut

  13. 1 cup dates, pitted and chopped

  14. Cream sugars and butter. add egg, and vinilla; beat well. Stir

  15. together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; stir into creamed mixture. Stir in crisp rice cereal (Rice Krispies for 3/4-inch balls; place

  16. 1/2 inches apart on ujngreased cookie sheet. Bake at

  17. 350 degrees

  18. F. until lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Cool slightly before

  19. removing to a rack to cool completely.

  20. Makes 5 dozen.
