  1. 1/2 cup low-fat milk

  2. 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, preferably Dutch-process

  3. 1/4 teaspoon instant coffee granules dissolved in

  4. 1 tablespoon hot water

  5. 1/2 cup nonfat sweetened condensed milk

  6. 1/3 cup sugar

  7. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  8. 2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips Pinch of salt

  1. Whisk together milk, cocoa and coffee in a small heavy saucepan until smooth. Whisk in condensed milk and sugar. Whisking constantly, bring to a simmer over low heat; scrape bottom of pan frequently with whisk to prevent sauce from sticking and scorching. Continue to simmer for 1 minute, whisking constantly. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, chocolate chips and salt.
