  1. Marinade:

  2. 2 tablespoons Korean BBQ sauce

  3. 1 pinch chilli powder or to taste

  4. 1 teaspoon caster sugar

  5. 1 teaspoon soy sauce

  6. 2 teaspoons cornflour

  7. 450g beef steak, sliced

  8. Sauce:

  9. 3 tablespoons Korean BBQ sauce

  10. 1 dessertspoon oyster sauce

  11. 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  12. 1 shallot, sliced

  13. 1 tablespoon chopped garlic

  14. 1 tablespoon oil

  15. 1 large onion, sliced

  16. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  17. 1 tablespoon water

  18. 10 pieces kimchi, chopped

  19. 4 spring onions, chopped

  20. 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, chilli powder, sugar, soy sauce and cornflour to make the marinade. Add the steak, stir to coat and marinade for 20 minutes.

  2. In a small bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, oyster sauce and sesame oil to make the sauce. Set aside.

  3. Heat a large frying pan with 1 tablespoon oil over high heat. Stir-fry the shallot and garlic until brown and aromatic, around 2-3 minutes. Add the steak and stir-fry until 70% cooked, about 2-3 minutes. Set aside.

  4. Heat the same frying pan with 1 tablespoon oil over high heat. Add the onion and salt and fry until soft, 3-4 minutes. Stir in the kimchi and cook until the mixture gets dry, 2-3 minutes. Add the spring onions and steak and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes. Add the sauce, cover and allow to simmer for 2 minutes. Serve sprinkled with sesame seeds.
