  9. 1 Tablespoon margarine -- softened

  10. 1 tsp lemon juice

  12. 1/2 lb poppy seeds -- ground

  13. 1 c water

  14. 1/2 c skim milk -- at room temperature

  15. 1/2 c granulated sugar

  16. 1 Tablespoon margarine

  17. 1 tsp vanilla

  18. 1/8 tsp salt

  19. --Cottage Cheese Filling--

  20. 1 c small curd cottage cheese

  21. 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar

  22. 1/4 tsp cinnamon

  23. --Cherry Filling--

  24. 12 oz can cherry pie filling

  25. 1/8 tsp allspice

  26. 1/8 tsp rum extract

  27. --Apricot or Prune Filling--

  28. 12 oz can apricot or prune pie filling

  1. Preheat oven at 400. To prepare pastry, combine flour, 2 packages creamcheese, and 4 sticks of butter in a mixing bowl. Beat until thoroughlycombined. Cover and chill till easy to handle. On a sugared surface rolleach dough 1/8 thick and cut into 2 x 2" squares with a pastry cutter. Addabout a teaspoon of filling in the center of each square. Fold oppositecorners to the center with one overlapping the other. Moisten the cornersto help them stick together. Lightly brush with water and sprinkle withsugar. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

  2. To prepare cream cheese filling, combine remaining cream cheese, 1tablespoon margarine, 1/4 cup sugar, and lemon juice in a mixing bowl.

  3. To prepare poppy seed filling, combine poppy seeds and water in a saucepan.

  4. Cook over low heat until most of the water is absorbed, about 1 hour. Addmilk and 1/2 cup sugar. Return to low heat and cook 10 minutes. Watchsauce carefully not to scorch. Stir in one tablespoon margarine, vanilla,and salt. Set aside to cool.

  5. To prepare cottage cheese filling, press as much moisture as possible outof cottage cheese. In a mixing bowl, combine cottage cheese, sugar, andcinnamon until blended.

  6. To prepare cherry filling, combine cherry pie filling, allspice, and rumextract in mixing bowl.

  7. Use unprepared, canned apricot or prune pie filling.
