Cakespy: Cherry Almond Osgood Pie

1 cup dried cherries

2 cups sugar

3 tablespoons vinegar

2 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon cloves

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup slivered almonds

For pie crust:

- makes one rather thick pie crust -

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for rolling

1 cup unsalted butter, very cold, cut into 3/4 inch cubes

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

4 to 8 tablespoons ice water
