  1. 4 cups 250g / 8.8oz Flour

  2. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Baking soda

  3. 1 1/3 tablespoons 19ml Baking powder

  4. 2/3 cup 157ml Milk - powdered

  5. 1 tablespoon 15ml Salt

  6. 1 1/8 cups 222g / 7.8oz Crisco vegetable shortening

  7. 1 teaspoon 5ml Cream of tartar

  1. In large bowl, sift together all dry ingredients. Blend well. With pastry blender, cut in shortening until evenly distributed. Mixture will resemble cornmeal in texture. Store in large airtight container in cool, dry place. Use within 10-12 weeks.

  2. Sylvia's comments: I mixed this up in my Osterizer, rather than cutting the shortening in by hand. Worked great, all I had to do was manually turn the bowl the opposite of the way it wanted to go a few times. Worked fine in recipes, too.
