  1. Instructions Run boiled squash run through a colander; beat into this salt, sugar, a little pepper and a pinch of mace, onion juice, and celery. Place this on the stove, stirring constantly until it becomes very hot. Have ready a quart of heated milk, with a pinch of soda. Stir butter and flour into the milk. Mix the hot squash and the milk well together in the tureen and serve.
