  1. 1 cup toovar dhal

  2. 2 tomatoes -- chopped

  3. 10 green chiles -- (to 12), chopped

  4. 1 teaspoon asafetida salt -- to taste **FOR SEASONING**

  5. 2 tablespoons oil

  6. 1 teaspoon mustard seeds

  7. 1 sprig curry leaves

  8. 2 red chiles -- broken

  1. Preparation : Wash the dal and soak it in water for 1/2 to 1 hour. Cook the dhal in 3 to 4 cups water until soft. Mix it well and add chopped tomatoes, green chiles, asafetida, salt to taste and boil until cooked. Season with oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chiles.
