  5. 1/2 c Raisins

  6. 1/4 c Rum or 1 tsp rum extract & w

  7. -Rum extract & 1 tsp water

  8. 2 c Pears; peeled, sliced, ripe

  9. 1/2 c Sugar

  10. 4 c Bread; white, coarsely torn

  11. 3 c Milk

  12. 1 c Cream; or evaporated milk

  13. 3 Eggs

  14. 1 ts Vanilla

  15. Preheat oven to 350F. Heat rum mixture and pour over raisins; set

  16. 1 tbsp of butter in frypan, add pears and cook

  17. 5 minutes. Add

  18. 1/4 cup sugar, stir and cook

  19. 2 more minutes and then put aside. Place bread

  20. in bowl. Scald milk and pour over bread. Let soak 5 minutes. Add raisin

  21. mixture and pears with syrup. Beat together eggs, rest of sugar, vanilla

  22. and stir in bread mixture. Pour in buttered baking dish, bake at 350F for 50 minutes.
