  1. 1 cup cornmeal

  2. 1 teaspoon salt

  3. 1 teaspoon white sugar

  4. 1 tablespoon shortening

  5. 3/4 cup boiling water

  1. Preparation : mix ingredients together until smooth. In a large skillet pour in 1/4 cup of oil or bacon fat. when grease is ready, using a large serving spoon, spoon in one scoop at a time and as they start to brown, turn them over until they are done. Great for Greens.
