  1. 8 ounces lean ground beef

  2. 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms

  3. 1/4 cup chopped green sweet pepper

  4. 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)

  5. 1/3 cup purchased pizza sauce

  6. 1 13.8-ounce package refrigerated pizza dough

  7. 1 tablespoon milk

  8. Grated Parmesan cheese

  9. Purchased pizza sauce, warmed

  1. Method :

  2. Preheat oven to 425°F. Grease a large baking sheet; set aside.

  3. In a medium skillet cook ground beef, mushrooms, and sweet pepper until meat is brown; drain well. Stir in mozzarella cheese and the 1/3 cup pizza sauce.

  4. Unroll pizza dough. On a lightly floured surface, roll or stretch pizza dough into a 15x 10-inch rectangle. Cut dough into six 5-inch squares.

  5. Divide meat mixture among squares, positioning it on one half of each square. Brush dough edges with water. Fold dough over filling to form rectangles or triangles, stretching dough as needed. Seal edges by pressing with the tines of a fork.

  6. Place calzones on a prepared baking sheet. Prick tops with a fork to allow steam to escape. Brush with milk. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. If desired, serve with warmed pizza sauce.
