  1. 8 ounces plain white flour (225g) 1 teaspoon salt 2 ounces margarine (50g) or 2 ounces butter (50g) 1 tablespoon oil 1 tablespoon milk 1 tablespoon water 1 egg , beaten 1 ounce sesame seeds (25g) or 1 ounce poppy seed , approximately (25g)

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F (200C).

  2. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt together, and make a well in the middle.

  3. Melt the margarine/butter, then mix with the oil, milk, water and egg.

  4. Pour the egg mixture into the well in the flour, and mix well to form a dough.

  5. Shape the dough into rings about 4" in diameter.

  6. Grease baking sheet, and lay the rings on it.

  7. Brush the rings with milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

  9. I think these are best eaten hot or while still warm. ?
