  1. 6 slices stale bread (in pieces)

  2. 2 eggs, slightly beaten

  3. 1 c. sugar

  4. 2 tbsp. butter

  5. 3 c. milk (hot)

  6. Dash of salt

  7. 1 tsp. vanilla

  8. 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

  1. Soak bread in the hot milk. Add 1 cup sugar, 2 slightly beaten eggs. Add nutmeg, salt and vanilla and butter. Put into a greased 1 1/2 quart casserole. Cook at 375 degrees until nice and brown, about 1 hour. Serve with Lemon Sauce.

  2. LEMON SAUCE FOR BREAD PUDDING:

  3. qt. water 1 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. lemon juice 16 tbsp. flour 1 c. sugar Get water hot. Mix sugar and flour together, stir into hot water, stirring all the time. Add butter, lemon juice and cook until thick. Pour over bread pudding.
