  1. 2 cups dried tart apples

  2. 1 1/2 pounds fully cooked ham

  3. 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  4. 1 egg

  5. 2 tablespoons melted butter

  6. 1/2 cup milk

  7. 2 cups flour

  8. 3 teaspoon baking powder

  9. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  1. Soak apples in water overnight. Next day, place ham in simmering water and cook further until soft. Add apples and brown sugar . Cook for 1 hour. For dumpling , beat the egg, butter and milk . Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture. Use milk to stiff batter .

  2. Drop dumpling dough by spoonful into boiling ham and apples. Cover tightly for 15 minutes. Serve immediately.
