  2. 1 cup Anasazi beans

  3. 4 cups water

  4. 1 bay leaf

  5. 1 cup brown rice

  6. 1 clove garlic -- chopped coarsely

  7. 1 jalapeno pepper -- chopped

  8. 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  1. Soak the beans in the water overnight. If you're short on time, bring the beans and water to a boil and simmer for 1 minute. Cover and set aside to soak for 1 hour.

  2. After the beans have plumped up, drain off the water, add 3 cups fresh water and the bay leaf and bring to a boil for 10 minutes.

  3. Add the brown rice, garlic, jalapeno pepper, and soy sauce to the boiling beans. Cover, lower the heat to a simmer, and cook gently for 40 minute
