  1. 1 Boiling onions

  2. 1/2 cup 118ml Salt

  3. 5 cups 990g / 34oz Sugar

  4. 5 cups 1185ml Vinegar

  5. 2 teaspoons 10ml Celery seed

  6. 2 teaspoons 10ml Turmeric

  7. 1 teaspoon 5ml Ground mustard

  1. Soak onions (which have been chopped) in ice for 2 hours. Take 1/2 cup salt and sprinkle among onions in ice water. Drain well.

  2. Make syrup of sugar, vinegar, celery seed, turmeric and mustard. Let syrup come to a boil. Add onions and let come to a boil. Pack in jars and seal at once.
