  1. 4 wholemeal pita breads, halved

  2. 2 tbsp olive oil

  3. 5g dried oregano

  4. 1/2; tsp salt, plus extra for seasoning

  5. 1/2; tsp freshly ground black pepper, plus extra for seasoning

  6. 4 strips streaky bacon, cooked until crisp, finely chopped

  7. 225g mascarpone cheese, at room temperature

  8. 180ml soured cream

  9. 60g chopped fresh chives

  1. Whole-wheat pita crisps with mascarpone-chive dipping sauce 1) Place an oven rack in the centre of the oven and preheat to 230C/Gas 8.

  2. Cut each pita half into 4 wedges. Arrange the pita wedges in a single layer on a baking tray. Brush with the oil, then sprinkle with the oregano, salt and pepper. Bake for 5 to 8 minutes until crisp and golden.

  3. In a medium bowl, combine the bacon, mascarpone cheese, sour cream, and chives. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl.

  4. Arrange the pita crisps and dip on a platter and serve.
