  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour

  2. 2 cups quick-cooking oats

  3. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  4. 1 teaspoon baking powder

  5. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  6. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  7. 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

  8. 1 cup granulated sugar

  9. 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

  10. 2 large eggs

  11. 1/4 cup milk

  12. 1 tablespoon molasses

  13. 2 cups chopped dates

  14. 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

  1. Heat oven to 350. Combine the flour, oatmeal, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  2. In a large bowl, with electric mixer, beat butter and sugars at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add 2 cups of the flour mixture, 1 cup at a time. Add milk and molasses, then add remaining flour mixture 1 cup at a time. Beat just until ingredients are mixed. Stir in dates and pecans. Drop rounded tablespoons of the cookie dough about 1 1/2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Bake in 350 oven for about 15 minutes or until bottom and edges are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.

  3. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
