  2. 1 3/4 cups boiling water

  3. 1 cup rolled oats

  4. 1 cup brown sugar

  5. 1 cup granulated sugar

  6. 1/2 cup butter, room temperature

  7. 2 large eggs

  8. 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour

  9. 1 tsp. baking soda

  10. 1/2 tsp. salt

  11. 2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder

  12. 12 ounce package milk chocolate chips, divided

  13. 3/4 cup chopped walnuts

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour the inside of a 9x13 inch baking pan. Pour the boiling water into a large bowl. Stir in the oats and let stand 10 minutes. Add both sugars and butter and stir until the butter is melted. Mix in the eggs. Add the flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder and mix well. Stir in 1/2 of the chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the walnuts and remaining chocolate chips over the top. Bake the cake about 35 to 40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Transfer the pan to a rack and cool the cake completely. Cut the cake into squares. Cover and refrigerate the cake until ready to serve.
