  1. Spiced Beef Tongue

  2. 3 1/2 pounds beef tongue

  3. 2 quarts water

  4. 6 whole cloves

  5. 6 whole black peppercorns

  6. 2 teaspoons salt

  7. 4 bay leaves

  8. 1/4 cup vinegar

  9. Combine all ingredients in slow-cooking pot. Cover and cook on

  10. 10 to 12 hours or until tender. Remove from pot; drain.

  11. Cool slightly; remove skin with sharp knife. Serve hot or cold.

  12. Slice thinly and serve plain, or with horseradish or mustard sauce.

  13. It makes delicious sandwiches when served cold.
