  1. 1/2 cup sugar

  2. 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  3. 1 cup water

  4. 2 cups raisin s

  5. 1/2 cup butter or margarine

  6. 1 cup brown sugar

  7. 1 1/2 cups sifted flour

  8. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  9. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  10. 1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oatmeal

  11. 1 tablespoon water

  1. Mix the sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan. Add the water and raisins and cook over medium heat until sauce is thick and clear; set aside. Cream together butter and brown sugar. Sift together the flour, soda and salt; add to the butter mixture along with the oats, mix until crumbly. Firmly press half of mixture into a 9 x 13 pan. Top with raisin mixture. Stir 1 T. water into remaining half of crumb mixture and spoon onto the filling; spread smooth. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Cut into bars while still warm. Cinnamon Icing: Mix together 1 c. powdered sugar, ¼ t. cinnamon, and approximately 1 T. milk and drizzle over warm bars.
