  1. 1 large onion , chopped

  2. 1 garlic clove , crushed

  3. 400 g lean ground beef

  4. 1 (400 g) can tomatoes

  5. 2 1/2 tablespoons tomato paste

  6. 1 -2 teaspoon chili powder (depending on your taste)

  7. 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds

  8. 1 (400 g) can red kidney beans , drained

  9. salt and pepper

  1. Heat a non-stick pan, add a little water and saute the onion and garlic until lightly coloured.

  2. Add the mince and cook for 5 minutes.

  3. Add the tomatoes, paste, chilli, salt and pepper and mustard seeds if used.

  4. Blend well.

  5. Add the kidney beans and simmer gently for about 10 minutes.

  6. Before serving, check the seasoning and adjust if needed.
