  1. 2 cups 125g / 4.4oz All-purpose flour

  3. 1 teaspoon 5ml Baking powder

  4. 1/8 teaspoon 0.6ml Salt

  5. 1/2 cup 99g / 3 1/2oz Shortening

  6. 1/4 cup 59ml Milk

  7. 2 teaspoons 10ml Grated orange rind

  8. 1 1/2 lbs 681g / 24oz Ricotta cheese

  9. 1/4 cup 27g / 1oz Mini chocolate morsels

  10. 3/4 teaspoon 3.8ml Vanilla extract

  1. Recipe Instructions Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a medium bowl, combine flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening with pastry cutter or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add milk, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon orange rind; mix until dough forms a ball. Roll out 2/3 of dough on lightly floured surface into a 14-inch circle. Line a 9-inch pie pan with dough; set aside. In a large bowl, beat cheese until smooth. Add 2 eggs, 4 tablespoons sugar, chocolate morsels, 1 teaspoon orange rind and vanilla extract. Mix well; pour into pie shell. Roll out remaining dough and cut into 1-inch wide strips; chill 10 minutes. Place strips over filling in lattice design; crimp edges. Bake 50 to 60 minutes, or until set. Cool.
