  1. 1/2 cup parmesan cheese , finely grated

  2. 1/2 cup romano cheese , finely grated

  3. 2 lbs ground beef

  4. 1/4 cup tomato sauce

  5. 1 large white onion, chopped

  6. 6 tablespoons butter

  7. 1/3 cup tomato paste

  8. 1 egg , beaten

  9. 1 lb macaroni , cooked according to package directions

  10. 1 cup coarse breadcrumbs

  11. 1/2 cup white wine (can substitute white grape juice)

  12. 1/4 cup melted butter

  13. 1/4 cup fine breadcrumb

  14. 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  15. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  16. 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

  17. 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  18. 1 tomato , diced

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  2. Brown beef and onions in butter.

  3. Slowly, add tomato paste, wine, spices and diced tomatoes.

  4. Simmer 10 minutes; let cool.

  5. Mix in the egg and fine bread crumbs.

  6. Mix together parmesan and romano cheeses; set aside.

  7. Butter a large casserole dish. Cover the bottom with coarse bread crumbs.

  8. Layer half the macaroni on top of the bread crumbs and cover with 1/4 cup of the cheese mixture.

  9. Top this layer with the beef mixture.

  10. Top with half of the remaining cheese mixture then layer the remaining macaroni.

  11. Top with tomato sauce and remaining cheese mixture.

  12. Top it all with remaining bread crumbs.

  13. Pour melted butter evenly over all.

  14. Bake 30 minutes in 400F degree oven. ?
