  8. CRUMB TOPPING INGREDIENTS

  9. 1 cup packed brown sugar

  10. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  11. 1/ cup quick-cooking rolled oats

  12. 1/2 cup butter

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. In a large mixing bowl, stir togethersugar, flour, cinnamon, and ⅛ tsp salt. Add apple slices and gently toss until coated. Transfer apple mixtureto the pastry-lined plate. Sprinkle crumb topping over apple mixture.

  2. To prevent overbrowning, cover edge of pie with foil. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes more or until top is golden. Remove from oven; drizzle with caramel topping. Cool on a wire rack.

  3. CRUMB TOPPING: Stir together sugar, flour, and oats. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until topping mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
