  1. 1 c Sugar

  2. 1/4c Chopped candied orange peel

  3. 1 c Chopped nuts

  4. 3/4c Flour

  5. 1/2ts Salt

  6. 3 tb Melted shortening

  7. 1/4c Diced candied pineapple

  8. 1 c Chopped dates

  9. 3 Eggs, well beaten

  10. 1 1/2ts Baking powder

  1. + Directions : Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat until light. Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking powder and salt. Add fruits and nuts alternately with dry ingredients to first mixture. Mix thoroughly. Pour into shallow, well-oiled pan. Bake in slow oven (325 F) about 30 minutes. Cool. Cut in squares and dip in powdered sugar.
