  1. 1 small onion, peeled adn finely grated

  2. 4 large eggs, lightly beaten

  3. 3 tablespoons melted chicken fat or vegetable oil

  4. 1/4 cup water

  5. 1 teaspoon salt

  6. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  7. 1 cup matzo meal FOR SOUP

  8. 2 quarts reduced-sodium chicken broth or homemade soup

  9. 2 tablespoons chopped celery leaves

  10. 1 tablespoon finely chopped dill

  1. Make matzo balls: Stir together all ingredients until well blended and chill, covered at least 1 hour.
