  1. 1 tablespoon butter

  2. 1/4 cup finely chopped onion

  3. 1/4 cup chopped green onion

  4. 1 can condensed tomato soup

  5. 3/4 cup milk

  6. 3 cups Cheddar cheese -- shredded (3/4 lb.)

  7. 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  8. 1 egg -- slightly beaten

  9. 1/4 cup dry sherry Toast

  1. Preparation : Melt butter in a saucepan over moderately low heat (about 225 F); add onions and cook until tender; remove from heat. Mix in tomato soup, milk, cheese, and Worcestershire. Cook, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted. Remove from heat. Blend 1/2 c. of the cheese sauce into beaten egg in a bowl. Pour egg mixture back into the remainder of the cheese sauce in the saucepan and heat over moderately low heat (about 225 F). Stir in sherry and spoon over toast.
