  1. Compote:

  2. 2 pints strawberries, sliced

  3. 2 pints raspberries

  4. 1 pint blackberries (omit if too tart and substitute with more strawberries or raspberries)

  5. 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  6. 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the berries, sugar and lemon juice and simmer until the juices are released, about 10 minutes. Let cool slightly.

  2. Make ahead option: The compote can be refrigerated for up to 2 days; rewarm before serving, if desired.
