  1. 1 whole(s) chicken, cut into pieces

  2. 3 cup(s) flour

  3. 1 tablespoon(s) baking powder

  4. 1 teaspoon(s) salt

  5. cup(s) shortening

  6. cup(s) milk

  1. Stew chicken in a large pot of salted water until chicken is ready to fall off the bone, about 1 hour.

  2. Remove chicken from water and remove skin and debone. Cut meat into bite-sized pieces. Bring broth to a boil. Add chicken.

  3. Meanwhile, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Add enough milk to make a stiff dough. Knead dough until stiff and firm. Roll very thin. Cut into 1 inch squares.

  4. Drop into boiling broth. Cover. Simmer 15-20 minutes. Do not remove lid while cooking.
